About Clear-Cut Reviews

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Clear-Cut Reviews is an honest, no-fluff guide to the software that freelancers, small business owners, startups, and solopreneurs use every day. I’m Jonas, a Belgian living in Spain. I test every tool on this site myself and write down what happened, so you can pick the right tool without the hype.

Who I am

Around 2020 I worked as a call agent, which meant a lot of hours on the phone and a lot of hours inside SaaS tools. That’s where I felt the difference between a good tool and a bad one every day. I always wanted to improve the tools I had to use, but a call agent doesn’t get much say in that. I could always find my way around a computer, but at the end of 2023 I took a web developer bootcamp and learned to work with computers far more deeply. After that I started building small tools of my own, and building them taught me exactly what I want from a tool.

When I went looking for tools, everything was overhyped, and finding the ones I wanted was hard. So I thought: why not test them myself and keep only the best, for me and for anyone else looking? I started building this site in late 2025. One of my mottos is “improvements never stop”, and that goes for the site too: I learn something with every test.

Why freelancers and small businesses

I’ve wanted to start my own business for a long time. Freelancers and small businesses are the backbone of the community. They need help finding the best tools for what they do and what they want to create, or simply tools that make their lives easier. And they shouldn’t spend more than they need to.

How I test

I sign up, work with my own files rather than a vendor’s sample assets, hit the limits, and write down what happened. Every review is scored the same way, every time, and you can see how the numbers are built on the How I Score page.

I pay for most of the plans I test myself. When a test runs on an account someone gave me, such as a vendor’s free access, the post says so. A free account, an affiliate program, or anything else never changes a score.

Everything on this site is made and tested by a human: every test, screenshot, and note is mine. AI helps polish the writing from my notes, and I check every line against what I saw before it goes live.

How this site makes money

Right now, it doesn’t. Clear-Cut Reviews isn’t a company, and I don’t earn anything from it. It’s a hobby: me, someone who likes testing and reviewing tools, building this site out of curiosity and creativity.

There are no active affiliate links on this site, and every post says so in one line near the top. There are no sponsored posts either, and there will never be ads.

If the site ever becomes a business, this section changes the same day. The Affiliate Disclosure page explains how affiliate links would work.

Spotted a mistake?

Tell me on the Contact page. I test it myself before I change a post, so a fix can take more than a few days, but I take every report seriously.

Got a tool you’d like reviewed, or a question? The Contact page is the place for that too.
